2025 has been a summer of five heatwaves.
Meanwhile the technologies and scientific research in the US are being de-funded. We are losing some of the vital evidence that supports what we are experiencing and feeling as the world is changing… sometimes only as uncanny discombobulation, sometimes as fire, intense storms, landslides, flooding, drought, sometimes in denial of the trends.
This autumn we will be bringing the evidence into a public space, projecting the graphs and data that Future Machine uses to create the news from the planet, printed out as short poems when people turn the lever to the future. We are watching and witnessing these changes, we are imagining the futures we want and need in response, and will keep coming together as the seasons change, whatever the weather.

South Pole sea ice melts,
Great glaciers lost to sea.
Spring comes south too warm.

Arctic Summer 2025
Becoming warm sea
the North Pole’s winter ice builds
holding life. Hold hope.

Cumbria end of summer 2025
Don’t forget the five heatwaves
The skeletons of great ash. Polluted waters.
Frost on autumn’s first morning.

Planet Earth Summer 2025
In this hotter world
So much beauty lost, and found.
Still sun’s rise, sun sets.
