Future Machine returned to Cumbria and the shores of Lake Windermere (Millerground/Rayrigg Meadow) to celebrate the end of summer and the Autumn Equinox, on Saturday 27th September 2025.
We gathered at the picnic benches next to the playground with tea and cake. People came to meet Future Machine and passersby stopped for a cuppa, spoke to the future, listened to the music of the weather and the messages from the past.
The weather threatened rain but brought in the autumn. Before dusk we made our way down to the jetties and the shore of Lake Windermere. This year we took a sample of water to monitor the pollution in the Windermere-Leven waters, we will continue to do this every year as part of Future Machine’s appearances bearing witness to change over time.
As the rain finally came Future Machine’s 2025 appearance at the shores of Lake Windermere came to an end.
